Fashion Scoops: Moss On Moss... Girl's Best Friend... Cruise Control...
Published: Wednesday, February 14, 2007
MOSS ON MOSS: "He's showing me pictures of me!" joked Kate Moss as Sandy Nairne, director of the National Portrait Gallery in London, escorted her and Pete Doherty around the "Face of Fashion" exhibition on Monday night. The show features iconic fashion photographs, some unpublished, by snappers including Steven Klein, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Paolo Roversi, Corinne Day and Mario Sorrenti. Other guests at the private view included Erin O'Connor, Alas and Piggott, Nicole Farhi, Katie Grand, Giles Deacon, Sorrenti, Day and Natalia Vodianova. The exhibition, which includes pictures of Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Kirsten Dunst and Christina Ricci, kicks off Thursday and runs until May 28.

GIRL'S BEST FRIEND: Gwyneth Paltrow will be lowering the gavel at Thursday's diamond auction at the St. Regis to raise money for Manhattan's first Hope Lodge, which offers free housing for adult cancer patients undergoing treatment. The actress, whose father Bruce died of cancer, is calling on New Yorkers to lend a helping hand for the Durst-developed environmentally friendly high-rise going up on West 32nd Street. The Damiani family is donating the bling, with all proceeds benefiting the Hope Lodge NYC, which will be the organization's flagship. There are 22 Hope Lodges nationwide, run by the American Cancer Society.

CRUISE CONTROL: The Milan and Paris shows for fall-winter have yet to begin, but some European houses are already on to the next and fine-tuning their plans for cruise. John Galliano, for one, is bringing Christian Dior's cruise collection to New York for a second time. A Dior spokesman said it would stage its cruise fashion show on May 14. Chanel is staging its in Los Angeles on May 18.

GONE DARK: The Narciso Rodriguez flagship in Milan shut its doors about 15 days ago, amid recurring speculation that the American designer was unhappy with his Italian production partner Aeffe SpA. The 1,100-square-foot store, opened in 2001, vacated its home at Via Montenapoleone 21. A new Agnona store is set to open at the spot on Thursday, relocating from a temporary home further up the street. An Aeffe spokeswoman said the lease on the store location expired and the company decided not to renew. She declined to comment on the Rodriguez business or a future retail strategy for the brand. Aeffe produces and distributes Rodriguez's line, but there has been growing speculation that the designer was looking to end the partnership.
