Antwerp, Belgium, seems to be a magnet these days for foreign fashion designers. On Thursday, Tommy Hilfiger previewed the Bernhard Willhelm exhibition at the MoMu fashion museum, toured the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and awarded prizes for four top students at the academy's year-end fashion show.SHOP CAROLYNE'S CLOSET: They say one woman's trash is another's treasure, and this, perhaps, could not be more true than it will be Saturday at Carolyne Roehm's tag sale. The arbiter of style is purging Weatherstone, her Connecticut estate, of years of accumulated objects including vases, china, flatware, linens, garden urns and party props.
"It may be an older Baby Boomer thing, but I want to simplify," Roehme wrote in an Evite to friends, "and I see no better way than to start with a bang."
Proceeds will be donated to the Little Guild of Saint Francis animal shelter and local women's support services. Weatherstone is located at 58 South Main in Sharon, Conn., and the sale will occur between 9 a.m and 4 p.m on Saturday and Sunday.
DOING AN ENCORE: Cate Blanchett, who currently is filming the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones adventures with Harrison Ford, always has time for a bit of fashion drama. The Giorgio Armani stalwart is expected to turn up at his couture show in Paris on Wednesday, according to a source. Actress Anne Hathaway also is expected to be among front-row celebs.
HERE COMES TROUBLE: Charlotte Rampling, Julie Depardieu, Jean-Claude Jitrois and Italian actress Vahina Giocante gathered at agnès b.'s Parisian headquarters Tuesday night to fete designer Agnès Trouble's crowning as the latest laureate of Montblanc's Cultural Prize. Rampling said she'll be missing out on the couture shows next week. "I'm off again — this time to Prague," said the actress, who is filming Mathieu Kassovitz's "Babylon A.D." Meanwhile, Wolff Heinrichsdorff, president of the Montblanc Cultural Foundation, disclosed that the brand will be holding a "major" bash in Paris in October for the second collection of its nascent fine jewelry line.
