NAUTICAL ICE STARS: Nautica promotes its ties to water in all forms — from the water on the runway at its men's show Wednesday morning to the ice hockey stars in the front row, New York Rangers left wings Brendan Shanahan and Sean Avery. While Avery (a fashion week veteran) hammed it up for photographers, his teammate was a first-timer at the shows. "Maybe his first show should have been one with female models," Avery joked. The duo plans to attend Calvin Klein and Michael Kors this week, before Rangers practice starts up this month.

MACY'S SALUTES SUI: Anna Sui couldn't help but get a little emotional Tuesday evening when she was honored by Macy's Herald Square with a cocktail reception celebrating a retrospective of her work. The store, which was the first retailer to sell Sui's debut collection in 1980, has set up a two-week showcase, called "Fashion Redux," on its second floor, where the contemporary collections are housed. Mannequins in the center isle bear one look from each year in Sui's personal archives, ranging from 1991 to 2006.

"I wanted each look to tell a story from each particular year," Sui said. "Looking at these looks all together makes me emotional. This is my life."

The event was hosted by Macy's vice president and fashion director of women's apparel Nicole Fischelis, who will continue to celebrate one contemporary designer each season through a full retrospective of his or her work. The next event will be at February's New York Fashion Week.
