Folding Pattern
Published: Tuesday, June 10, 2008
Nicolas Ghesquière is continuing this season with fresh versions of his fall Balenciaga themes of rock 'n' roll and folded shapes, but the looks are newly toned down. Here, his asymmetrically draped silk georgette tanks and waxed jeans with insets.

Nicolas Ghesquière’s latest collection for Balenciaga features hints of Fifties couture in pale colors. Many looks are taken from the boudoir, including a bodysuit with underwire construction for a touch of feminine romance. Meanwhile, Richard Chai is feeling transparent, using sheer sleeves on cutaway jackets and chiffon overlays on girly floral dresses. At the other end of the spectrum, Jean Paul Gaultier stays true to the traditional notion of resort with a collection based on swimsuits, cardigans and his signature printed tulle dresses — all with a relaxed bohemian vibe.
