Alas, Dwayne Johnson Won’t be Running for President in 2020

He hinted that he may run for the US President spot in 2020. Yes, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson actually had us thinking he would take on Trump, and we liked it.

At the time Johnson said, “Of course, I would consider [running]. I’m very patriotic about our country, and I care deeply about it… So I think if I felt like I could become a real impactful, tremendous leader, and surround myself with good people, then I’d consider it.”

That was back in 2016, and even in May of last year (2017) Johnson told Yahoo! That he was registered as an independent, and went into some detail of what kind of President he might be: “Personally, I feel that if I were President, poise would be important. Leadership would be important. Taking responsibility for everybody. [If I didn’t agree with someone] on something, I wouldn’t shut them out. I would actually include them.”

It could happen right? Wrong!!! Johnson has put that dream to bed, at least for now. He told Vanity Fair: “There’s a lot of ground to cover, and due to my schedule, it’s not possible in 2020.” Adding: “I have so much respect for the position. It’s something that I seriously considered. What I need is time to go out and learn.”

It looks for now that with Dwayne Johnson and Oprah Winfrey saying no to run for the Whitehouse in 2020 we’ll have to pin our hopes on another Hollywood super-star. But which one? Mmmmm……
