It’s done and dusted. Holly Willoughby has been announced as the replacement for Ant McPartlin for this year’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

But guess what? Declan Donnelly predicted this would happen less than a year ago in the jungle. It was the start of the 2017 series of I’m a Celebrity, Dec was on screen and welcomed viewers to the show, he then introduced his co-presenter.

He said at the time: “Hello, good morning, good evening,” Adding: “Welcome to Australia. We are back, and we’re here for the next three weeks. Your hosts, me and the gorgeous Holly Willoughby.”

Ant chimed in: “What?” kidding of course, and repeated: “Sorry, what?! What?!”

Ant had checked himself into rehab that summer, and there was speculation as to whether he would return to co- host the show.

Dec the responded: “Nobody was sure if you’d make it or not!” Adding: “We didn’t know if you’d be here!”

Ant then gave Dec a big hug and said: “I was always going to be here.”

Well, we now know that that isn’t the case and Holly is now standing in for Ant after he confirmed he would be taking the rest of this year off to focus on his recovery.

Holly said: “I couldn’t be more excited to have been asked to stand alongside Dec for the next jungle adventure,” and added: “I love Ant and want to send him my best wishes and support for a continued recovery.

“These are big shoes, not to fill, but just to keep warm for a little bit.”

As for Ant’s partner Dec, he said: “I am hugely grateful to Holly for agreeing to accompany me to Australia this year. She was at the top of my list, and I’m thrilled she said yes.”

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! returns to our screens on ITV later this year.
