None of the I’m A Celebrity contestants are exempt from eating challenges

This year’s I’m A Celebrity really had made changes. This time around no campmate will be able to opt out from food challenges. This comes even though Fleur East and James McVey had apparently told show bosses that they were vegan and would have no part in the shows infamous eating trials.

In the past campmates had endured some of the strangest foods to eat, this includes kangaroo penis to roasted spiders and various animals’ anuses.

Word has it that even though there are others in the camp that identify as non-meat eaters, only Fleur has told show bosses directly that she is vegan. That being said, she has insisted that she will eat everything that is given to her during show challenges.

In the past the show has had other vegan celebs on the show including Shappi Khorsandi. She had become vegan a few months prior to joining her campmates in the jungle in 2017. During the show she said that she would indeed eat meat in the jungle camp if she had to – or if a trial required it. Following her eviction however, she explained that she was instead given secret parcels of food after she fell ill while attempting to eat the same food as the others.

Shappi said at the time: “The worst thing that happened to me was I thought “Come on, it’s not a religion,” adding: “so I had meat and I was really, really physically sick – five times in one hour. It was horrible and then after that I asked for vegan food and they were very accommodating, it was fine.”

To combat the same result this time around, word has it that James will be given a vegetarian option when food is delivered to camp, and if the camp win stars for meal he will receive a portion of tofu.
